It's definitely not your normal run of the mill zombie book, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Confused yet? I know I am, and I r I'm really not sure how to describe this book. It is definitely sarcastic and snarky, but the MC, Van, can also be sensitive and introspective, although most of that is seen in the last 1/3 of the book admittedly. It's not one of the new trend of zombie books where a human falls in love with a zombie and they live happily ever after, although there is some romance. I'm really not sure how to describe this book. Hopefully it will be read not for the zombie killing but for the insights it gives into our society and culture. It is a glimpse of how we learn to hate a group that we do not understand and what may occur when that hate is allowed to run unchecked simply because of misunderstanding. Van eventually realizes that the biggest battle he is fighting is one within himself. The book is one that is difficult to put down once one starts reading. Also there is the possibility that the infection can be controlled and the need for zombies to feed curtailed to the point that they are not dangerous to others in the society. It is hard to tell in this world who are zombies and who are not. As the differences between normal people and zombies become politicized the move toward open warfare between the two groups becomes inevitable and Van questions his own role in this process. It is a story of "Them Against Us" and how hatred and misunderstanding can lead to irrational thoughts and deeds. But as the same time Van, who appears to enjoy the killing, begins to ask questions of himself. The business that Van's college buddy sets up begins to boom as more and more people want more zombies killed. They appear normal until they need to feed and do so at night. ![]() They are infected and it may take a few years for them to turn into the classic zombie figures that we are accustomed to. A college friend shows up with the idea to kill zombies who are starting to creep into all aspects of American life. This leads him to feeling inadequate and looking for a way to strike out so that the feeling of inadequacy will disappear. Then a message in a restroom gets him to thinking and to questioning his past conquests. Van is the average American male who considers himself to be quiet the ladies' man and is growing bored with his life. To me the book was a fascinating read and a study of a person's evolution in thoughts and actions. Then a message in a restroom gets him to thinking and to questioning I am not much of a zombie literature fan but Cristian YoungMiller in this book gave me a lot to think about and maybe not turn me into a advocate of zombie literature but into and advocate of SAMURAI ZOMBIE HUNTER. I am not much of a zombie literature fan but Cristian YoungMiller in this book gave me a lot to think about and maybe not turn me into a advocate of zombie literature but into and advocate of SAMURAI ZOMBIE HUNTER. The ending clearly left it open for a sequel, but let's hope this author either graduates from high school before he takes that on, or just quits while he's (sort of) ahead.more How else do you explain all the typos, missing punctuation, improperly indented paragraphs, and auto-correct mishaps (a character named Kofi was repeatedly referred to as "Coffey")? And I think it was written on the iPhone. This book must have been written by a 15 year old boy. ![]() That on top of a few other pornographic scenes just made the vulgarity levels too high. Although I did skip the chapter that was a transcription of a YouTube video on the subject of how to give women multiple orgasms. As in, zombies that are samurai, instead of zombie hunters that are samurai. I think it would have been cooler if it had been Samurai-Zombie Hunter. Super vulgar and borderline soft porn, and I'm only about 50% through it. ![]() The typos and formatting errors are distracting, but being distracted from the awful writing is a good thing.
